Allow me to speak on behalf of American women across the nation. We do want you to think that we're beautiful, but we don't want you to tell us that you think this within the first 5 minutes of seeing us. When you do, we almost automatically assume your intentions are less than noble. Asking a woman unknown to you direct questions, like "where are you going? home to your boyfriend?" or "do you ride this bus often?" is not a good way to put her at ease and gain her trust. Presentation is also key. Leering suggestively while asking familiar, ill-timed questions will not improve your chances. Body language is an important way for you to judge how a woman feels about your addresses. If a woman turns her back toward you and crosses her arms defensively that is not an invitation to pursue her. At that point you really should just give up; otherwise, she will get off the bus several stops early to avoid being near you. (And she might silently vow to pick up that bus at a different time from now on.)
Yours sincerely,
Affronted Girl on Bus #7
