Dear Ms. Ozanne --
I am very happy to tell you that the Graduate Program Committee of the Department of History has approved your application to our program and will recommend to the Graduate Dean that you be admitted to the University of Texas at Austin for graduate study beginning in Fall 2007. The official acceptance notice will be mailed by the Graduate and International Admissions Center. If you haven't heard from that office by May 1, you should check with them to see if any of your credentials are missing.
Our Graduate Program Committee was very impressed with your application and has also voted to award you a five year package of support. This will consist of a fellowship for your first year, carrying a stipend of $18,000 plus payment of tuition, fees, and health insurance for one person, and a teaching assistantship for your second through fifth years. You will also be eligible to apply for a substantial pool of departmental fellowship support in your third and later years in our program. Annual renewal of the TAship will, of course, bear the condition that you perform well in your courses and maintain satisfactory progress through our doctoral program, and that you carry out your teaching responsibilities in a satisfactory manner.

This is wonderful, congratulations! I would call you to say well done, but your probably celebrating (I mean, getting high, or whatever the kids call it). A fellowship in the first year is wonderful. At least do it for the MA!
Are you free this Sunday evening at 9? There's a great jazz band playing at the Elephant Room. I want to buy you a drink to celebrate!
cool, and $18,000 in the first year. Sounds like you should buy the drinks!
